London Winter League - 2005/06 Info

What is the London Winter League?

The London Winter League (LWL) is a competition for Ultimate teams in the London area and throughout the south of England. Games are held once a month throughout the winter on Sundays in two or three divisions at different locations around London. For 2005/06 a Mixed Division will run alongside the Open Divisions for the first time.

What is Ultimate?

    Sunday 13 November – LWL Matchday 1
    Sunday 11 December – LWL Matchday 2
    Sunday 8 January – LWL Matchday 3
    Sunday 12 February – LWL Matchday 4
    March (tbc) – LWL Finals day and Charity Shield
  • Start time - 9:30am.
  • Tournament structure/game length - check schedule on Matchday
  • Team fee - £15 per event.

Registration

Teams can register by emailing the London Winter League Committee (LWLC) on winterleague@londonultimate.com. The Committee will then add you to the team contacts yahoogroup which is used for most communication. Teams can enter as many or as few of the matchdays as they want. Any problems with seeding this causes will be resolved by the Committee and our decision is final.

Individual players looking to join a team may still be able to do so, either by posting a message to the LondonLeague mailing list, or by contacting teams directly. Joining a team mid-league is fine by us (we have no rostering rules): some teams may already be full and therefore not taking on extra players, but others are definitely on the look out for pickups. You can only ask.

Mailing Lists

Urgent updates (e.g. cancellation of a game) are posted to the London League mailing list. It's also a place where you can talk about games, post results, etc. Players (and definitely all the nominated team contacts) are advised to join the list. There are two ways to subscribe. Either:

a) Visit www.yahoogroups.com/group/londonleague with your web browser
or
b) Send an empty e-mail message to londonleague-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Note that you can read the mailing list with a web browser, even if you're not currently a member (you just can't post messages to the list). Go to www.yahoogroups.com/group/londonleague

Team captains only will be invited to join the LWL Team contacts group by the Committee, and that list is tightly managed. Should you have any problems signing up or need to re-sign up then please:

a) Visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lwl-contacts with your web browser
or
b) Send an empty e-mail message to lwl-contacts-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Committee members will be individually invited to join a 3rd mailing list which is private.
