June 3rd

Here we go folks. Teams are entered (although, Neil from Scott Wilson, please call me asap) and the schedule for the first two weeks is online now in the Results section.

You'll find the seeding on the forum - head over there and make your predictions.

So, we should be ready to go. Keep an eye on the mailing list for any further updates. Enjoy the first games.

There are teams looking for players. There are teams with a few too many players! And there are players looking for teams. If we had more time it would all work itself out, but unfortunately we don't - I need to pull it all together this weekend. So I'm matchmaking...

If you have half a team and had given up hope of entering summer league, please email me now. If you'd be willing to make it the "pickup team", I'm sure I can find you some players.

If you're looking for a team to play for... even if you're a beginner... email me too. Now!

Official Entry Now Open - but not for long

Our pitches have been confirmed this morning, which means we can at last officially accept entries for summer league. The entry deadline is Thursday 31st May. We are starting games next week, on Wednesday June 6th. So you need to get your skates on.

Lots of teams "pre-registered" in the last few weeks, and I expect all those teams to send in official entries. So if you didn't email me with your intention to enter summer league, move fast as there are only a few spots left. The league is restricted to 24 teams. I wish it could be more, but due to scheduling and pitch availability, unless there's a giant surge of entries from teams I don't know about, that's where we have to draw the line.

Full details about this years summer league are in the new 2007 Info Pack. You must take a look at this if you've never played summer league before.

To officially enter your team, email the following details to paul AT londonultimate DOT com

1 - Team Name

2 - Your team contact's details: Name, Postal address, Email address, Mobile number, Home telephone number, Daytime work number (if possible)

(phone numbers are only for the benefit of other team contacts and will not be published on the website.)

3 - Choice of home ground, either Clissold Park or Balham. This is where you'd like to play most of your games. Bear in mind you will always have a few games at the other venue.

You may have a game on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday night:

4 - Are there any of these three days that your team definitely can't play?

5 - Is there a particular day that you would prefer to play? (Tue, Wed or Thur)

I have to try and seed all the teams as accurately as I can. So I need to know:

6 - What standard would you say your team is? Either...

* Novice - mostly beginners
* Fairly new - a year's experience here and there
* Experienced - have been playing tournaments for a couple of years
* Very experienced - most of the team have been playing for four years or more
* Superstar - a good number of top-team or GB players, in the running to win it

7 - Please give me an idea of the make-up of your team. Some teams have a mixture of very experienced and very new players. Others are all novices. Others are all experienced. What's yours like? Any big names on the team?

The team fee this year is £225. To speed up the entry, I'm not asking for your money just yet, but I'm trusting you all to cough up very soon. We have to pay in advance for these pitches, and we're talking about thousands of pounds.

Get those entries in and, as usual, watch the mailing list for more information.

We're taking entries now... after a fashion

If you're planning on entering a team into this year's summer league, you need to mail me at paul AT londonultimate DOT com. Now!

There are still lots of details being ironed out, which unfortunately means I can't tell you what the team fee will be, but expect it to be around £200 per team. The upside is that I don't need any money from anyone just yet. But I do need to get an idea of how many teams are entering. If you haven't got your team together, you need to get on with it right now.

I can tell you that games in the north will be at Clissold Park as usual, and the south London venue will be the Balham end of Tooting Bec Common once again... this time with marked pitches. There may be another central London venue as well, but that's still rather up in the air.

Games could start as soon as Tuesday May 27th. That's really really soon. I know, it's crazy, but if we don't start by then we will have a problem finishing before the light fails. It's the usual situation, we're being held up by certain local authorities (not Hackney though - thanks Jenny), so we're forced to start taking entries before we know for sure what's going on.

If you're not on the londonleague mailing list... get on it right now. Things move so fast, there isn't necessarily time to update this website, so the latest info is posted on the mailing list. You risk missing getting your team into the league if you're not on the list.

But right now, please mail me about your team... even if you're still at the getting-it-together stage.

Oh, lastly, the first beginners session went off really well on Monday. There's one more next Monday night - see below.

Pre-summer league beginners sessions

If you've just started playing Ultimate, we have a couple of coaching sessions coming up on Monday 14th and 21st May. They're aimed specifically at new players. Oh, and they're completely free! This is a great opportunity to learn the basics of the game from some of the top players in London.

Full details are on the main LondonUltimate news page. Hurry up and get in touch with Lars if you want to come along.

2007 Summer League - get your teams together

With all the updates to the London Ultimate home pages recently, we've succeeded in attracting lots of new players. Hello and welcome, good to have you along.

Guess what? Yes, I'm still trying to secure pitches. So I can't announce anything official just yet. Things look promising on the pitch front, but I've said that before and been let down at the last minute, so for a change I'm keeping quiet about where we might be playing until everything's signed and sealed.

Be warned - we're hoping to get games started at the end of this month. We're trying to make the season a couple of weeks longer than usual. So start getting your teams together right now. We're not accepting entries just yet, but the longer it takes to get confirmation about pitches, the less time we'll have to get everyone registered. Things could happen very quickly and you don't want to be caught napping.

For those new to summer league, remember that it's played mixed - a practical minimum squad size is ten men and four women, which will help you cope with the inevitable absentees each week. Check out the info page and the old info pack for an idea of what to expect from summer league. We'll have a new info pack for you this year, I promise... once we know where we're playing!
