We have four pitches at the north end of Tooting Bec Common, just a few minutes' walk from Balham tube station. Directions from the nearest tube stationBalham tube on the Northern Line is closest. From the tube, walk up Balham Station Road past the Sainsbury's car park on your left. Cross over Bedford Hill at the lights (where The Bedford is) and walk down Fernlea Road. Turn R at the end of the road and go under the little railway bridge. You'll see a kids playground, and behind it a big grassy area. We're playing there. Nearest/best pubThe Bedford is located halfway between the tube station and the pitches. Look on its website for a full list of what it's got to offer - including pole dancing classes on a Thursday evening 7-9pm... Clissold Park is technically in Hackney, but is in fact not all that far from Finsbury Park where we've played in the past. We have two pitches at Clissold Park. Nearest tubeManor House tube is the best bet for most of us (if coming from Central London, use the Victoria Line, and change at Finsbury Park. The Piccadilly Line is slow). From Manor House, it's a straight twelve-minute walk south down Green Lanes. Better still, hop on the 341 or 141 bus from the tube station. If you're walking or standing around at bus stops late in the evening, please take care - although I've never run into a problem, this isn't the safest part of London. Girls, don't walk back to the tube on your own. Nearest/best pubBrownswood Park Tavern is good. As you leave the park and walk back towards Manor House tube along Green Lanes, it's about 100m up on the left-hand side of the road, next to the first set of traffic lights. Can't miss it! It does good Thai food and has an outdoor area to enjoy those warm Summer evenings.
