2006 Summer League Champions - Thundering Herd 2006 Summer League Cava Division winners - either Whey or ABH North (unknown) 2006 Summer League Asti Division winners - either Lurve or Flump (unknown) 2006 Summer League Spirit Winners - still waiting to confirm Dang, I get ill for a year and... I'll find out these results eventually SummaryThe numbers for 2005: A radical new format was employed this year - all the teams were seeded, and everyone played two crossover games to establish which of three 8-team divisions they would play in. Teams then played round-robin within their division. This avoided our usual long drawn out opening round with its inevitable mismatches. Yes, it meant that you had to be seeded in the top twelve to even be in the running for the league title. But it also meant that every game was crucial, right from the word go, and that lower seeded teams avoided spending the first month or so getting hammered by more experienced teams - which isn't the best way to build new players' confidence. The new format was a big success, so we'll be using it again in 2007... possibly with another interesting modification (to be revealed). And that's about where my knowledge of this year's summer league ends... because I was away in the US most of the summer. However, I've archived all the news postings here, so you can catch up if you want. Also, all the banter on the forum is still there. See you in 2007.
