Greetings Londoners,

We've talked about it for years, but this time round we're actually getting our act together and starting Summer League in May. Yes, Summer League is going to start as soon as the light allows. More games, more fun, more glory.

Most of the details will be similar to last year, but with one big change: We're going to run Cup and League competitions in parallel. One of the major pieces of feedback is that some teams like to see the odd mismatch so that they can have a chance of some giant killing and meet some new faces. Otherwise things will be the same as before - we'll be playing at Balham and Clissold with matches on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, 5-2 coed mix.

In order to get things moving we need to know how many teams want to play. The team fee will be around £320 with an exact figure to be confirmed over the next month. I know that's a hike since last year, but obviously there are a lot more games this year than last. Exact number depends on entries, but expect something like 12-14 games.

To register, please send an email telling me your team name, captain's email address, preferred venue and what division you'd expect to play in (1st, 2nd or 3rd). Teams that register before the end of March will get preference for entry. If too many teams register by then we'll either expand the competition or use last year's spirit scores to determine which teams make the cut.

If you have any questions then please email me or ask them on the forum if you think they're of wider interest. We'll be using the forum as a major conduit of information once the league is up and running, so if you've stopped using it of late, or have never logged on, then please get used to checking it for updates.

Somewhere I saw that there was hope that the first games might be on 13 & 14 May 09... is there any update on this, please?
